Horace Mann President and CEO signs CEO Action Pledge for Diversity and Inclusion

Horace Mann employees offered unconscious bias training.

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (May 7, 2019) – Cultivating an environment where diverse experiences and perspectives are welcomed and employees feel comfortable and encouraged to discuss diversity and inclusion is exactly why Horace Mann President and CEO Marita Zuraitis has signed the CEO Action Pledge for Diversity and Inclusion. By signing the pledge Zuraitis states “it’s a natural extension of what we foster every day at Horace Mann.”

Zuraitis’ pledge includes:

Continuing to make our workplaces trusting places to have complex, and sometimes difficult, conversations about diversity and inclusion, implementing and expanding unconscious bias education, and sharing best - as well as unsuccessful - practices.

The CEO Action for Diversity and Inclusion is the largest CEO-driven business commitment to advance diversity and inclusion within the workplace. Zuraitis joins more than 600 other CEOs in taking the pledge.

This week, Horace Mann is hosting its first Day of Understanding for its employees. The Day of Understanding includes an hour-long workshop that allows employees to have meaningful conversation around bias in the workplace. This workshop is being offered throughout the day on Thursday, May 9 for all employees.
